đ Fall Fun Awaits!
One of my favorite things about fall is loading the kids in the car, grabbing hot cider, and heading to a pumpkin patch. The DMV has so many amazing farms this time of year â some with giant slides, some with cozy hayrides, and yes, the biggest pumpkins your kids will insist on carrying (and then ask you to hold five minutes later đ ).
If youâre looking for places to make those core fall memories, here are some of our familyâs favorite pumpkin patches and corn mazes around Maryland, Virginia, and D.C.

đ Here are a few places to head to this fall!
Summers Farm (Middletown, MD)
This one is a must if your kids love to run wild. Summers Farm has everything: a giant corn maze, pumpkin patch, slides, pig races, even an apple cannon (which my boys could stay at all day). Itâs basically fall heaven for kids. Pro tip: go early in the morning on weekends â it gets packed fast.
Cox Farms (Centreville, VA)
Cox Farms is legendary around here, and honestly it lives up to the hype. Their âCornundrumâ maze is part silly, part spooky, and all fun. Theyâve also got tons of slides, farm animals, and a hayride that my kids beg for every year. Just be sure to buy tickets online â they sell out quickly.
Butlerâs Orchard (Germantown, MD)
This one feels a little more old-school, which I love. We go for the pumpkin patch and hayrides, but the real highlight? The cider donuts. Trust me â grab an extra bag. The kids always eat them before we get back to the car.
Montpelier Farms (Upper Marlboro, MD)
Montpelier has one of the best corn mazes â especially if your kids are into flashlight adventures after dark. My little ones love the farm animals and slides during the day, but if youâve got older kids, bring them back in the evening for the nighttime maze.
MD Corn Maze (Gambrills, MD)
This maze is HUGE, and itâs always a hit with school-age kids who want a little challenge. Theyâve got hayrides, pumpkins, and farmyard games too, which keeps everyone busy. Bonus: kids 2 & under are free on weekends.
Great Country Farms (Bluemont, VA)
We love this one for the pumpkin picking â and the pig races (yes, pig races!). Thereâs also a flashlight corn maze that older kids think is the coolest thing ever. Pro mom tip: donât leave without grabbing the apple cider donuts. They disappear before we even get home.
Messickâs Farm Market (Bealeton, VA)
This is more of a hidden gem. Messickâs has a little bit of everything â corn maze, petting zoo, hayrides, and the kidsâ absolute favorite: the bounce pillow. Oh, and they shoot candy from a cannon (tell me thatâs not the most kid-pleasing thing ever).
Belvedere Plantation (Fredericksburg, VA)
Belvedere has been around forever, and itâs such a fun stop. Theyâve got a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and plenty of space for kids to run wild. It feels less crowded than some of the bigger name farms, which I secretly love.
Gaver Farm (Mt. Airy, MD)
This farm is super family-friendly. Theyâve got pedal carts, barnyard animals, a bakery, and a corn maze. My personal tip? Do not skip the bakery. Their cider donuts and pumpkin rolls are worth the trip all by themselves.
Jumboâs Pumpkin Patch (Middletown, MD)
This one is special because admission and parking are free â you just pay for your pumpkins and a few of the extras. The corn maze is big enough to keep the kids entertained, but not so big that youâre lost forever. Itâs one of those easy, no-stress family days.
đ ď¸ Mom Tips for Pumpkin Patch Season
Pack snacks & water. Farm food is fun but pricey.
Bring a wagon. For pumpkins and tired kids.
Dress for mess. Muddy shoes are a guarantee.
Go early. Crowds grow fast and naps wait for no one.
Check farm websites. Hours and tickets can change, especially around weather.
